Hey guys,
So my car has been sitting for about 8 months. I originally wasn't planning it to be that long so I didn't really prep it for storage other than fuel stabilizer and disconnecting the battery. I just got it back into the garage and started freshening things up again. I just sent off my injectors for cleaning and ordered a new fuel filter, pressure regulator and some fuel line for preventative maintenance while I have it all taken apart (along with many other non fuel related parts
).
Tonight I was pulling out the old regulator when I noticed I had some debris in my fuel rail. The injector and regulator port(s) are pretty dirty and have some very light surface rust. The debris is black flakes that looks like flaking paint, but I am not sure what it is. Has anyone had this problem? What is the best method for cleaning or should I just cut my loses and buy another rail off someone?
I was thinking about using some brake cleaner to spray in to help break up the flakes so they can rinse out. I don't really want to use water to prevent more rusting.
Thanks for the advice.
