I have a ZF tranny without the shift boot installed and when i get up to 40 mph and above i have these fast spinning sound coming from the shifter hole. It must be from the rear of the tranny. It sounds like a washer is spinning at a few hundred RPM around a shaft. Its not a constant spin but it comes and goes. It actually spins up and slows down at about the same rate. Its really weird, i have went underneath the car and cant find anything loose so i am stumped. Anyone had issues with the tranny bearings going out or becoming loose?

I have the same problem. Its way more audible than I feel like it should be. I have my shifter boot on and installed, etc. - I thought maybe it was the CSB (center support bearing) or Guibo that was maybe making the noise. It spools up just like it sounds like the driveshaft is spinning up. It is a difficult thing to hunt down.(oo=[][]=oo)

Yea thats the way i feel; it shouldn't be that loud. Its either got to be the CSB or the rear of the tranny. Hopefully it warms up a little and i can get back under there and take another look. How long has yours been making that sound?I have the same problem. Its way more audible than I feel like it should be.
