      Shimming a few mm won't hurt anything, your driveshaft will shift more than that when you hit hard bumps.

        I already spent $160 on a new e21 booster, I would just like to know what is the best way to get this rod threaded. And a lathe won't work.

          I will try to get some pics. I used:

          2002 remote reservior - 34 32 1 112 399
          34 31 1 121 911 x2
          34 32 1 102 282 x2
          And some standard braided brake hose. That's all you need.

            Man that's alot of metal to try and die off. the shaft needs to be milled down to the same as the e30 booster to tap a m10X1.50 thread, are you suggesting tapping the outer shaft with a M12 and then drilling and tapping the fork larger? :-?

                I tapped the shaft with a M12x1.75 die first, then filed the threads off. This put me at around 10.5mm in diameter. I then filed a little more material, then used a nice high quality M10x1.5 die to make some threads.

                I believe cutting M12 threads and drilling the stock brake fork a little larger and tapping M12 threads would also work; there's a good amount of material on that fork.

                  Did it, it worked. Took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. I had a buddy chuck a drill on one side of the shaft and turn it slowly while I put a high grit pad on the buffer and hit it. bufffed a taper on the end after cutting it to length, then took a 13/32 bit and drilled out the fork and tapped it. PERFECT!! Just went and bought a M12X1.75 nut,and I was worried. :rofl:

                      If that's the master you bought from me, it's not an IX master. It is from a 735i. It's the same as the 25mm E34 M5 MC

                        i have a ix booster and master cylinder but there is a 85 and 88 735i at the local yards. should i take the booster and masters and use it instead????

                          i also have an IX booster/master that i was planning on using. i read this whole damn thread and the working combos still arent clear to me. i know i can use this setup, BUT will a remote reservoir be required?
