m52 warming hard

    m52 warming hard

    hello, i have a m52tub25 but it warms really hard, i have the big e30 radiator that came with diesel models or maybe standard in the us. what could the problem be? here in romania it's fairly cold around 32 degrees but it takes like 10-15 minutes while driving to get the car warmed up. should the radiator get warm while the thermostat is closed?

    No, with the thermostat closed water is not circulating into the radiator.

    I would not worry about that, it's a relatively big motor in a small car and needs a fair bit of exercise to come up to temperature.

      Your thermostat might be stuck open. Feel the top and bottom radiator hoses. Until the car is mostly up to temp, only one should be warm/hot. If they are both warm right away, your thermostat is stuck open.

        also...when i floor it in an open space the temperature goes bellow the half mark to the quarter line and when i stop or go slower it goes back to the half mark

          yeah but even my friends e46 320d gets up to temp faster... after 20 minutes of driving it slow it gets up to temp

            Sorry meant warming too slow. Sounded way better in romanian

              Your friends e46 has a heated T-stat and a temp gauge that is buffered. The temp guage stays in the middle for almost a 60 degree change in coolant temp. E30 is reading a 'live' temp. That is why when your running at 50+ mph with more air flow temp goes down, then at a stop light with less airflow warmer temp.

                It does sound like a stuck thermostat. I'd go in and check it out to be sure.
