M52b28 - engine oil light & oil service/inspection gauge

Two problems really, but maybe they're related?

Firstly, I am unable to reset the oil service/inspection gauge. I followed the guide about using a jumper wire to short the two pins on the big "pac-man" looking connector for 10 seconds... but I can't get it to reset.

Secondly, on the overhead check panel, the Engine Oil light is on. The oil level on the dipstick was slightly below the line, so I added about a half quart, but the light on the check panel is still on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to wire the overhead check panel light in separately if you're using an e36 harness, which you probably are. Not sure about the reset light.
