    Oil leak?

    M50nv engine, G260 trans.
I have a massive oil leak propagating from what I think is the oil filter housing itself. I replaced the o-rings behind the circlips on the back side and the o-ring that gaskets the housing to the block (twice!) and I am still getting a profuse leak that I can't exactly pinpoint. It seems like it's coming out the bottom from between the housing and the block just covering the oilpan kickout. I couldn't see any other gaskets/o-rings. I looked over the housing itself and didn't SEE any cracks or places that look like it had been leaking for awhile. Am I missing something? Any suggestions at all would be appreciated, I absolutely HATE oil leaks.

check the vanos oil hose that goes from the oil filter housing to the vanos solenoid. also check your crank position sensor seal. those can leak down onto to the oil filter housing and make it look like thats the problem. if not maybe you didnt torque down the bolts enough? if not replace the housing? if all of the above doesnt work, leave current religion and find a new god

I don't have a vanos oil hose but I'll check the crank position sensor. I had been thinking that the housing may be the issue but was hoping not. I may end up replacing it just to be safe but the ones I see on ebay and the like don't look like mine. Weird.

Edit; Did you mean cam position sensor seal? If so that's bone dry. Looks like I'll replace my housing...

oops i didnt even see m50nv. yea if your cam position sensor which sits about the oil filter housing i believe ( not too familiar with NV engines) is dry then thats not the issues, deff check the oil filter housing. also something that just crossed my mind. if you have power steering check your power steering hoses for leaks, check the banjo connections for any leaks and also check your power steering pump for leaks, you will eventually find the issue!

        good luck
