    I'd love some opinions!

Found a low mileage s52. Already had alot of obd1 sensors and engine harness with ecu so I converted it to obd1. I have a uuc flywheel and m5 clutch on its way, I've had this setup on another 2 cars and have had nothing but good experience with it.
Here is the dilemma! I picked up a really cheap zf320 from a 1996 328i, included was the 4 bolt rear driveshaft and complete shifter with linkage. I ran the vin on the trans and here are the specs: 229k miles! 1 owner car. 328i sedan. Ended up being a junk car in 2010. I hooked up the linkage and shifted through the gears, feels fine. Goes into reverse, the 5th gear detent is a bit sticky but very little. Doesnt lean, doesnt cause confusion between 3rd and 5th gear. Have not yet drained the fluid. All sounds and looks ok but cant be sure it doesnt grind or pop out until i run it, right? Need opinions! Would you run this trans?

Put it in, get the swap done and trouble shot, then pull the trans and send it out for an overhaul worst case?

If it works it works, but don't expect it to continue a trouble free life for too long. If you're weary have someone open it up and replace synchros and whatever else that looks tired. Or buy a low mileage trans.

You can swap a trans in 2-3 hours if you know what you are doing. Run what you have till it breaks.

If really cheap: you get what you paid for?

I'm with everyone else, just run it and see what happens. It won't last forever, but should get you around fine for a while without issue.
