power steering

i was hearing a weird knocking noise but when i turn the wheel it stops. so assuming the knocking is coming from my power steering pump i checked my reservoir and the fluid looks glittery and flaky. would my rack be ok if i just replaced the pump? turning is still smooth and the rack itself doesn't make any noises.

Yes., then flush the fluid few times to get the old stuff out, use ATF
