    M52 into early 318

I'm picking up an m52b28 here in the next few days from a donor car and I'm kind've confused on what all to collect. Also the wiring aspect.

For ease of install, it seems collecting all OBD I components would be the easiest route. (my local junkyard has three or four cars with everything I'd need). I could get everything from the donor car for OBDII, but this seems to be a bit overly complicated, especially considering my car is an 84 318.

What's the recommendation? Also, does anyone have a pinout for the early harness for this conversion?

Also, what components are needed for the complete OBDI conversion?

    Intake manifold
    Harness
    Ignition Coils
    DME

    what all else?

I've read tons of threads about this, but, am drawing some blanks on these points.

Thanks guys. My first swap just trying to get everything before I start tearing anything apart.

Any links to wiring pin outs for the swap for the early square plug?

Theres a few floating around. I will say, VSS, CEL, Tach, MPG, and a few other things are NOT in the C101.

you lazy, I would download the full wiring manual and match up the wires.
Makes trouble shooting way easier later on.

          Found here 1984 E30 318i

          And here 1996 E36 328i

please keep it obd2, just swap the manifold

If the obd2 harness and all was from a manual and I I had all the sensors, maybe then.

But I have to pick up most of the sensors anyway, and obd1 is much more readily available at the local yard.

I'm poor is the real reason. Lol.

But thank you for the pin out and links.

Why run it obd2? Wouldnt that include hassle of keeping or deleting the ews?

Obd2 isn't any more of a hassle than converting everything to obd1. It's just an ecu reflash lol

You're probably gonna chip your obd1 ecu anyway so just keep it obd2

Quite a bit of difference in price though.
