multiple tunes on 1 chip?

like the audi guys have. does it exist for an e36 computer? or would i have to have 2 different chips?

looking for 1 n/a tune on ragged edge for 100 octane, and one for street gas that can run 89-91.

You might be able to work something like that on a piggy-back system ,but im not sure . As far as 0bd1 cars you cant have two engine management maps on one chip.

what makes you think that OBD1 makes it impossible to have multiple tunes on a chip? why would obdII allow this. i think its something else completely.

Auctually, if you just ran where the chip would go to a PIC or something with multiple images on it then somehow have a way to select between them that would work.

It would be more cost effective and easier just to carry two ECUs though

Be easy to have a second chip holder solder in and a switch to flip back and forth but honestly wouldn't it be easy to just yank the oem and swap in the other? If you use say half the screws holding the box together then it doen't take all thet long or buy to ECU's.

I am aiming to achieve JUST THAT (two tunes, one ECU). It's called an SMT-7 Piggyback controller. It can store two complete maps of every kind, and has the capability of hardwiring a switch/button in order to flip between the two maps on demand, even if the car is running.

yeah, i definitely dont want an SMT-7. i already know about those, i might just get the twin chips and swap them back and forth.

Because Obd1 uses hard software burned on a chip in which no interface is given. On the other hand 0bd2 cars are flashed with new software which means it has much more possibilities for something you are talking about because those flash programs can store 2 different tunes. When you buy a conforti shark injector(aka chip for obd2 car) it supposedly stores your stock ecu map and then downloads a new one,which in turn means it can hold 2 ecu tunes.

That's what I do. Even with fully assembling the glovebox everytime, I have the entire swap completed in less than 3 minutes, every time.
