thinking about doing that to lighten up the front of the car, get rid of the lines and reservoir for less maintenance, add more clearance, and go for a cleaner look.
anyone with a 24v swap on e30 m3 swap from a power steering rack to manual steering?

I'm interested in doing this too. I don't know much about steering/suspension systems though. This would be new for me. I've never owned a car without power steering.
I found this thread while looking:
It's not a rack swap but it allows you to eliminate the power steering with a fairly simple mod. I'm just not sure how I feel about doing this on my daily driver. -
I have no PS on my 24v. Don't miss PS at all. I like the feedback, and the workout. I'm running OEM wheels and tires, so my steering isn't that heavy. Very manageable for me and I'm not a big guy.1989 Carbon Black 328isComment

I just ordered my bypass block for my M3 rack going into an 89 24v sedan .... How does the set-up do on bumps pointing strait and mid-corner? is there a lot of bump-steer?
I've driven cars/trucks in the past without p/s but never with so much caster...Comment

There can be some bump steer in a bumpy corner. I've only ever noticed it significantly when its a "hole" sort of road imperfection. Hasn't ever upset the car in a corner.1989 Carbon Black 328isComment

I deleted mine as well. You get more feedback for sure. Its only hard if your at a dead stop. Even a little movement makes it easy again. The condor block off is perfect. I dont regret it

were these block offs done to a stock rack, or e36 rack. this is what the op is concerned with i think. less turn lock to lock will be harder to turn with out power assist.Looking for late model fogs, E39 Fog lights, cool cheap 17 5x120 wheels.

Thats true. Prolly need the stock rack. Its like 4.5 turns and the e36 is like 2.9 or 3.2? So that could make it suck

It's a bypass block that lets fluid swap from one side to the other when you turn. You still have to fill the rack with ATF if it was originally hydro-assist

I've installed this part, haven't driven the car yet but I filled the system with fluid using a cut stock p/s hose, overfilled then quickly installed the block to minimize air then semi-bled the system as best as you can. It's a bypass block that lets fluid swap from one side to the other when you turn. I can turn the steering wheel with 2 fingers sitting on a rough concrete floor, I've done this on multiple vehicles, even front wheel drive and I have no regrets on any of them.Function.
