I have a 1987 325is with a 1999 S52 and I just got to finishing up some wiring. I believe all of my C101 connections are correct, but I am going to double check them using the ETM's. My main relay is not pulling in when I turn the ignition on. I converted from an auto to manual, and I believe that I removed all of the auto harness correctly. The car will engage the starter and the engine turns over correctly. I do not have fuel delivery, but I can jumper the connection and the fuel pump runs correctly, and the fuel rail fills with fuel. I used to have a check engine light when the ignition was on, but now I do not. I'm not sure what I changed to make it go away, but I still don't think my ECM relay was powering on. My unloader relay is also working.
The power connection that fed the E36 fuse box on the harness did accidentally touch ground for a fraction of a second. (NO!) I heard a little ticking of a relay under the dash. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and everything seemed to still function correctly. Im still sweating this a bit.
1. I don't know what the "Ignition Switch" power controls. Does this send a signal to the ECU relay to pull in? What else does it control?
2. My ECU relay is not pulling in. I have not removed the E36 fuse box power wire, but I DID remove the SAP relay. Do I need to make any power/signal connections due to removing the SAP relay?
3. My fuel pump does not power on during starting, but The fuel pump does work.
4. I tested the coils in all of the relays with a DMM, and all of them are working correctly.
5. My unloader relay (near the ECU plug) is functioning.
6. I dont think my ECU is bad, but is there a way to tell?
I feel like I'm pretty close to getting the car to start, but wiring is not my strong suit, so I'm somewhat lost. Hence the R3v post.
Any help is appreciated.
