problem swapping s52 in e30: electrical fire

so I keeo going back and checking everything, and it looks like everything is grounded. I am sure it is something stupid that I overlooked but was wondering if any of you had any insight. the fire actually isnt coming through one of the wires or anything but rather through one of the metal brake line tubes coming from the master cylinder. I dont have any idea what is causing this but the tube gets really hot and ignited when i attatched the battery.

    thanks

i havent even gotten a chance to turn over the motor or anything, it happens as soon as i put the plugs onto the battery. my calipers weren't seized before i started the swap

You have a 'hot' powered wire that is contacting some part of the brake line. Probably a frayed wire or a junction that is touching the line or the master cylinder. If it's one brake line then follow the path of that line till you find a wire.

You have a power wire shorting to a brake line.

its only one of the brake lines that go from the MC to the abs unit. its like something is triggering it inside the abs unit. there are no 'hot' lines touching the brake line.

found it, after searching it was a wire that was touching the brake booster then going to the MC which was then going to the brake line.

              thanks for all your help.
