    M50 preventative maintenance/upkeep

    What's up r3v,

So this may seem like a bit of a n00b topic, but hell I figure it's better to ask and sound stupid than remain ignorant. So here's my question, is there a comprehensive list/guide somewhere that all of you gents follow for general maintenance and upkeep on your engines? Good things to do at certain mileage marks for example.

In addition to this, a good overhaul/maintenance guide with mileage marks for the entire E30 itself, drive-train, suspension, aesthetics even? I walk to the beat of my own drum, as they say, but I certainly don't see myself as a master tech or mechanic guru. Help me out guys, and thanks!

I collected the Haynes/Bentley stuff for both E30 and E36. I think all the info you seek would be available in them.

I'm at work right now and have no access to them but I recall seeing a few general maintenance pages on the back of the E30 Haynes manual which IIRC has mileage and durations.

I replaced just about ever gasket (except head gasket) I could while the engine was out. New alternator, new water pump, new crank sensor, new clutch, mounts etc. It really depends on the condition of your motor. If you get a low mileage solid running motor your list could be much shorter than say a scrap yard motor. Lots of guys will take it completely apart and refresh it. If your budget and skills allow for this, do it...it also depends how much you want to spend.
