    Early Model swap VSS Signal

OBD1 swapped s52 in an '84 318i. Need to provide 413 DME with VSS signal.

    Have a few questions:

Is the VSS signal that goes to the ECU a direct signal from the diff sensor?

I am not running a stock e30 speedo, so I can only use the raw output from diff speed sensor.

My speedo is going haywire when I rev the engine. Is this interference? My speedo is hooked up to the stock sensor signal and ground wires, are these shielded?

    Thx

it must be processed speed signal from the e30 instrument panel. Won't work directly.

Can anyone confirm this? I've heard from another source that obd1 uses an unmodified signal from the speed sensor

I got mine form the OBC harness. S50 would cut out at 6200 rpm until I provided vehicle speed to DME.

          Hello,

If you are unable to get the needed signal to the engine DME,

i might have the solution, I ran into simular problems when installing an e34 m5 engine in a non bmw body, the engine missed 40 wheel horsepower due to a missing speed signal , I have done a lot a research and had a couple speed signal duplicators made.
My latest m70 conversion didnt work properly without the signal either...
if you are interested send me an email (oldtimerfan at hot mail) and I can send you some pictures and info..
I'm not a company or trying to make money, just trying to get some money back for having several made and in the process helping some enthusiasts :-)
