You've got a couple problems with your C101 wiring, but I don't think that should prevent the car from starting.
C101
Pin 4 - This needs to be wired to an e30 temp sensor (brown top, one wire) to get the temp in the e30 cluster
Pin 14 - Speed Input Signal - Not sure what this connects to on an S50 (pin 9 on M52/S52)
Pin 20 - ABS Unit - Should be connected to a switched +12, preferably from a relay (I have mine hooked up to the main relay)
The 318i/is didn't have any wiring for oil level, so you don't have to worry about that, unless you are swapping in a check panel.

Thanks, Justin. I revised my wiring. Here it is:

I had a very similar problem with my e30. I had no spark and no fuel. But the car would crank. My issue was the bad OBC, for some reason the anti-theft system turned on, and wouldn't let the car start. When i disconnected the OBC the car started right away. I'm not sure if that will help you with the car in any way, as mine is just stock e30 with stock m20 in it, but figured might post it anyway.Leave a comment:

E30 S50 no start - no spark/no fuel
Customer's 1991 318i sedan with 1995 S50B30 US engine has a no start condition after swapping in engine. Harness is from the same manual '95 M3. 413 red label DME with TRM tune. Modified C101 plug (by me). All sensors are brand new.
Car cranks, no spark. I do not hear the ICV hum or the fuel pump turn on.
So far, I have double checked the following:
-engine arm/frame rail ground, coil pack/valve cover ground, engine harness/battery tray ground, injector/VANOS ground, and DME ground into the bracket.
-CPS tests out at a good 540 ohms
-swapped 413 red label DME and all relays from my running/driving S50 swapped car
-good 12.5 volt connection at the battery tray
I have double checked all my C101 connections, and here they are:
318i C101 Pin Color Function E36 X20 Pin Color
1. blu (alternator) 25. blu
4. brn/wht (CTS) 12. brn/vio
5. brn/grn (oil pressure) 23. (blk/gry)
7. grn (ign switch) 21. grn
8. wht (fuel rate) 24. wht/blk
9. blk (engine speed) 20. blk
11. wht/blu (SI reset) 19. wht/grn
12. brn (CEL) 8. gry
13. grn/vio (fuel pump) 13. grn/vio
14. blk/wht (vehicle speed) 14. blk/wht
15. blk/grn (unloader relay/starter) 15. blk/grn
16. wht/blk (DME diag conn) 17. wht/vio
18. blk/yel (ign switch) 18. blk/yel
20. red/yel (ABS) splice switch from e36 main relay
The wiring seems correct to me, but I'm kind of at a loss. All help appreciated. I'd just like this car to leave my shop soon.
Edit: I have also confirmed proper placement of the trigger wheel, and it is lined up properly with the keyhole. FYILast edited by e30austin; 04-18-2014, 10:58 AM.Tags: None
