ID:	7238598 so I replaced my engine in my 325is and now that I have time I was tearing down the old engine, which I thought would be time consuming and pricey to fix. (no compression) then I found this. I was originally going to rebuild my s50 that came out of my m3 when I swapped a 2jz in it, but now im thinking of a stroker. opinions, advantages and disadvantages to both the s50 vs the stroker would be appreciated.

I built a 2.8 M20 stroker with M30 AFM, BMP chip, 19 pound injectors and cat back. Very smooth power curve and peppy....but it wasn't what I hoped for. I replaced it with a freshened S50 with 3.5 AFM, TRM tune and 21 pound injectors. Much faster, especially at higher speeds.

    Go S50

Im a 24v fan so if you have the bread, go with the S50.

Built m20's are cool, but 24v just makes life a lot easier (no timing belt and easy water pump access!). If it's a fun weekend car, then do as you please, but for a reliable daily driver, 24v all the way.

Don't post in the 24v section and expect people to say M20 lol. 24v is lower maintenance and good power.

built m20s def have a cool factor...and when done well they can be nasty fun...but expect 200 hp or so .....not much if any more w/o big $$$$$

I run an s50......much ezier to live with....and a worked m2o could cost more.
I love sitting down and just driving!

exactly what I was looking for and expecting. the only advantage i could think of would be the sound of the stroker.. was thinking about running m42 pistons in the s50 if i decide that route. read somewhere they gave a slight higher compression. now just need to see if somebody sells gasket kits for the s50 or if theres any insight on what I should replace when I rebuild (I guess it would be freshened up technically).
