hurr durr stomp test no worky

so i cant get my stomp test to flash any engine codes, the CEL isnt on but i would like to test the functionality of it. is there a pin on the diagnostic connector that i can jumper to put the car into diag mode?

    things i know,

new tps (3 days old now)

CEL bulb works and has come on randomly a couple of times right after i got the car back on the road

i could stomp test my m20 regularly with about 90% success rate on the first try.

and i can get my buddies e36 to flash codes so i know how to stomp a gas pedal lol

To make sure the CEL works put the key to position 2 and see if the CEL is lighting up. Then it will turn off when you start the car if there is no issue.

I know, but will it not flash codes if there are none? Like the m20 flashed a 1444 if there was no problem.

If the TPS isn't hitting its limits you will not be able to trigger the test I think; I got mine to go once but haven't been able to replicate it and I think that is the issue.

do you think it would be best to pull the tps and operate it by hand off the car? or would actuating the throttle from under the hood be enough?

You can try it, I never have...let me know if it works!

I had the same issue, the stomp test would not work for me. I popped the hood, turned the key on and manually opened and closed the throttle at the throttle body using the cables and was able to pull codes that way. Granted, mine is an M20 but I figured I would add this anyways.

I wonder if this is a good sign that your tps is screwed up?
