? about the trans on a m50 swap.

so im planning on doing a m50 swap to my 325es. I'm just starting out i have some idea's but is there anyway that my 240 trans will hook up to a m50 engine, or do i just have to swap the engine and the trans together? if i could keep the trans that would make this project a hundred times easier.

260 getrag for duability (what i have in mine), or the e36 tranny (zf I think) for best proformance, just watch out for the "money shift".

thank you, that helps, i couldnt find a clear answer in any of the actual threads. what is the fabrication like for the motor and tranny mounts when you swap out the m20 for the m50? if this is in a thread that you know just send me the link so you dont have to explain all this. thanks bro.

When I started considering my swap I printed the m/s50 thread in the motor swap section, I learned about everything I needed to know. Then post ?'s. It will help generate responses from other forum members if you have a specific question and not a gereral question that has been covered a hundred times. This wasn't a rant, it is just info to help you generate answers.

As for the mounts, 535i solid (green) rubber motor mount bushings w the m/s 50 aluminium motor mounts. In the m/s50 thread there was a link where someone fabricated the tranny brace (260 trans only).

I'm not all that good with this stuff, I've just read alot.

If you use a 240 transmission the stock transmssion mount will work, you will need the 260 shift linkage though, and a e36 325i driveshaft and a e30 325i center bearing. Although like x2andz3 said you have a 260.
