M52b28 e39 528i EWS3 Questions???

I am in the middle of an m52 swap in my e30 and have removed both engines, and am now in the middle of taking out the EWS unit.
From what I understand all I need is the engine, engine loom and DMC (which are attached to the engine) and the EWS unit.

I have located the EWS unit under the steering wheel, and just to the right.

My question now is what are all the wires for. There are 6 wires all together which come out of the plug to the EWS unit.
2 of them go to a couple of 5A fuses
1 goes to the black plug on the DMC
1 goes to the white plug on the DMC

And the last 2 which are brown with a black strip on it and a purple one.both go to separate different buzz bars with loads of other wires connected which are the same colour.

Can someone who knows about this please elaborate on this for me as this is stopping me from carrying on with the engine swap now :(

What date of production is the 528i? EWS3 came in '99-'00 only. But you claim your engine is M52B28 that is 96-98 spec that comes with EWS2. M52TUB28 came in '99-'00 and has EWS3.3.

For EWS3 you must wire whole EWS module, key antenna, instrument cluster.

I'm only saying its EWS 3 because it says it on the EWS box. And the car was produced 09/05/1997.
Wiring the instrument cluster doesn't sound fun :/ what's involved?
I'll try and get a photo of where I'm at with it today so you can see for yourself
