        The exhaust manifold holes are different spacing than the valve for the airpump.

        you can use 1x of part # 11121438086 to block off the air pump valve.

        the 2 pipes with flanges that go over the exhaust manifold will need to be re-used with new gaskets; I did this for my car.

            what about this? seems expensive

                I used part number 11727511542. Still had the holes welded closed. Just thought this looked cleaner. Had to grind the center i little bit to fit.

                  Out of curiosity, is there a reason to remove the SAP other than converting to OBDI? I have an E36 so it belongs in my car, but I was wondering if it increases power or something?

                    From what i understand its just an emissions component and can be deleted. it has something to do with the idle when the car is warming up or something liek that. i had my DME flashed to remove it so i dont need it.

                      European obd2 cars don't have it.

                      Secondary air pump is something designed for California emissions bs.

                      No power difference with or with out it; similar for the crankcase vacuum cyclone.

                      Obd2 is much smarter brains than obd1;

                      I removed the air pump system and left the steel pipes in place to cover the exhaust holes

                            11121438086 plate is not intended by BMW to fit that placement; that's why you had to massage it to fit - Good idea on the welding and using this as a vanity cover.

                            11121438086 fits any place there is an AIR VALVE; bmw made the flanges and gaskets all specific sizes on purpose. This is a total PITA on a V12 with 1 air pimp, 2 Valves and 4 flanges on the headers.

                              Bimmerworld sells these plates too for less than IE.
                              store.bimmerworld.com/m50-egr-plate-1996-p1049.aspx

                              If you use these, do you still also have to weld the slots on the flange to close the gap between the flange and the head?
