just wonderin cause im starting to collect parts and wonder if i should bother trying to make it work. If anyone has any info about it let me know. It gets pretty hot out here during the summer (100 or so on most days) and with a black interior it is like a fuckin oven!! so it would be nice to have.
Who still runs ac after the swap?

I plan to run the A/C when my conversion is done. A friend has also just had his hooked up. My understanding is it just requires some custom A/C hoses from the compressor...which are apparently a little expensive. Any A/C specialist should be able to handle it though.

I got hoses made for $50, if you have the corresponding end pieces it is not that difficult.
Zionsville sells them for over $200 I think... and don't forget to connect your a/c on signal to the white/black wire, it is not the black/white wire that does speed ref, however...

From what i remember you use one existing hose and then you can use some OEM hose with a different fitting on the end.Comment

I picked up an M-Coupe AC compressor and bracket for my motor swap because the compressor is much smaller and quite a lot lighter. I went last summer without the AC, but I'm going to install it at the beginning of this summer. I'm going to pick up the 2 stock e36 AC lines that connect to the compressor run them where they need to be and figure out what's needed on the other end.

I have A/C, bitches. Cost me $440 with the R134a, labor, and custom hosing. It decided to take a shit one week before it hit 100° here, not sure why (probably the a/c button, since everything else is proven fine).
At the moment, I'm probably 1/4 people in the world to have A/C and a 24v, but I'm most likely going to get rid of it when I move back to Cali for college. Hell, I barely use it here.Comment

Took mine off. I've used the AC in my Acura exactly 7 times in 4 years.
Plus removing the AC makes things so much cleaner in the engine bay!Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

C///M, so you're saying grab the M-Coupe a/c stuff because it is lighter? Same size, fitting and whatnot?
 Lighter is better.91 m3Comment

I imagine all z3's (m-coupe and roadster included) use the smaller AC compressor. I know for a fact that the M models do, but never looked at a regular z3.
I'm pretty sure you need the mounting bracket as well, as I don't think the smaller compressor bolts onto the standard m50 AC bracket, but this needs verification.
