    Transmission identification help

Guys I need some help identifying transmissions for my e30 nv m50
    Yesterday I found this
    [IMG][/IMG]

Is that a 220 getrag or what ?
How can I identify them which number is it from all those numbers?

I need a long ratio gear box because my e30 has an 3.73 LSD and a getrag which am not sure what but I think it's 220
I am having a hard time driving it on highway because of the very high rpm's

What transmission do you guys recommend other than the e30 getrag 240-260 ?
And how to identify the transmission or what should I look for written numbers?

I found some transmissions but there is too many numbers I have no idea which number is the right one ?

Consider that I am planning to go turbo next year

    All help is appreciated
    Will post pictures soon
    Thanks

Here, I googled getrag 220, took about 10 seconds.

because its from a dohc motor already, you likely wont need to bend shifter etc.

I used a late model 318is getrag 240, no bending needed, and used e30 euro 320is (m20) shift linkage, with no modifications neeed.

you should do some research though.

      Please leave feedback below, thanks

Any transmission from e36 or e34 will have a 1:1 5th gear, which is what is making it rev so high on the highway.

The options are to use a G240 from an e30 318 or A G260 e30 325. It's been covered many times how these bolt up and what driveshaft to use. They both have an overdrive 5th and are more suited to a 3.73 differential. Otherwise you may need to look into a 6 speed from an e46 or e36 M3
For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!

thank you i searched and got to that but my problem was that there is too many numbers on the gear box and its writen also 226 and if i take that in consideration it will be a 6 speed gear box which is not so its the first three digits from the long serial number as i learned :)

thank you i will not to look for a m50 transmission any more :D
i have a getrag 240 but i am not sure about it
i searched and found that there are two types of the g240 and only late model 318 works with the m50 and i read that it cant handle much torque but anyway am not sure mine is which one i will post a picture of it maybe some body can confirm its a late model
about the e36 m3 transmission is that a zf or a getrage ?
