    Tach help

    Hey guys,

1987 325e with an S50 in it, the harness is from a manual 94 325i. I can not for the life of me get the tach to work. I currently have Pin 20 from the harness wired to the black wire in the C104 to no avail. I replaced the early model motometer cluster with a late-model motometer, I have a C6 plug off of a spare early model VDO cluster, could I pull the tach signal from that if I used it?

( http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=109946 talks about using it for the cruise )

I've searched and searched, but I'm too much a retard to find the information I'm looking for, apparently.

I have an '84 325e and I also put in a late model Motometer cluster with a higher redline. I traced the black wire in the C104 back to the cluster and tapped into it near the cluster and my tach works properly.

It sounds like you are doing it right so I would check continuity on everything. At first I had no tach because I did a crappy job crimping the pin onto the wire.
