    m50 automatic into a e30 manual

I'm looking at putting a M50 into my e30. I heard that the motors that come out of the m50 automatics are different than the m50 that come out of the manuals. Can I get confirmation on this? I want to make sure I'm not buying something that I can't put in the car. The only thing I can think of is a different ECM for an auto or if there are different sensors for the automatic.

    Thanks!

Mine was an auto m50 from a e34. I switched out the wiring to a manual because the original wiring was burnt. ECU are interchangeable I think.

The block is no different. The wiring harnesses are. I actually used a modified m50 e36 auto harness with an m52 from an auto car mated to my g260 manual.

Excellent! Thanks for the quick responses. How hard is it to take a wiring harness from one engine and put it on another? I've dealt with Subarus before but not much experience in BMWs.

Very easy. If you can't figure it out there are enough pics online to get you through it.

Could I just cut the sensors out of the automatic harness that I don't need to use?

Yes. All you have to do is trace the connectors back from the plug and clip the wires. It's easy to do when figure out all the plugs.
