OBD-2 exhaust manifolds: SAP question

Has anyone had issues warping the flange when welding up the SAP holes, or is making a cover plate a better solution?

cover plate looks nicer. What I did is welded the hole shut directly on the manifold

Welded mine last night, no warping. I would just clean up the 2 closest holes after welding though.
