    318is M52 swap using g240

Hello everyone, I have been searching for a little while but finding no luck. I wanna know if I can drop in the m52 and reuse the g240 FW, Clutch and PP. I am finding a lot of ppl using m20 flywheel. Can I swap the flywheel or do need a different one? The m52 still has the m52 starter and m52 flywheel. What should I do?

If using G240/260 then use the M20 clutch and flywheel.

Ok look here this is what I did. And I know a few others that have done it too. Go by a new pilot bearing for your car. Reuse your Clutch and all associated parts including your starter. You will need a shorter shifter and shorter drive shaft.

BTW I believe you mean the m52 pilot bearing.

I guess on a budget? Find a donor and get it all in there. M3 driveshaft is the tits no?

For whatever it's worth. I reused my G240 flywheel and a brand new M42 clutch with my m%0 swap and it's holding perfectly fine. Lighter is ideal but on a budget it will work fine.

If the clutch doesn't hold up to the added power then Ill swap in as needed. I figured I can document it and make a contribution to the community.

I didn't change a thing, remove g250, insert g240 lol. Just need to measure the pilot bearing, certain years differ. I think I used an auto e36 318i driveshaft, not 100%, but it fit perfect, no splines showing.

Pretty sure the M42 and M50/52 pilot bearing is the same part number. Starter is also the same for M42/M50/M52/S50/S52. The 240 bolts on just fine to the M50/52 with clutch/fw/etc.
