How many of you have your e30s50/52 running perfectly?

How many of you feel like your car could have rolled off the factory floor like it is right now?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Well, running perfectly yes. However, "rolled off the factory floor" lends my mind to comfort and OEM'ness.

It starts like new and runs awesome. But it's definitely on the modified side.

Well of course, I expect engine mods have relatively the same effect regardless of chassis. Besides those mods, does it feel factory?

mine also runs perfectly and starts like new. I've been driving it everyday for almost a month now and not even come close to having any real issues, just some things I need to tweak a little more

Mine runs perfectly, but you can't beat the factory for being able to build little plastic bits and pieces to hide things and make them fit perfect. I don't think you can really get true right from the factory look unless you spent tons and tons of time to extend/shorten parts of the wiring harness, build a better wire harness cover, and a few brackets.

I was talking more about the overall driving experience than looks.

Ive read that due to the somewhat small increase in weight in the front, when the car is driven close to its limits it tends to push more than usual (obviously). Have any of yall been able to completely dial that understeer out with relatively minor suspension adjustments?

yes, you will definately feel the extra 50lbs, but i did not find any understeering. my old 89m50 saw a number of days over the last couple of years. it could be easily rotated at turn-in with a little trail braking. in the carousels, it was extremely neutral and throttle steering was a breeze. this year ive got an e30s52m3, stickey tires, more aggressive springs and adjustible sways. this will be interesting.

there was a tech response in this months roundel (may2006) and the author slammed the conversions due to nose weight. however, he neglected to address the m20 rockers. that in itself is enough reason to swap. its all a matter of opinion.

              cheers, jason

Yup, perfect for me as well. My car even sounds quiet until I open it up. I was expecting it to be loud since I'm not running any cats. But the AA Gen III and Supersprint clone headers really quited the car down.

starts within a second or 2, gets decent gas mileage, doesnt let me down, doesnt consume oil/coolant, and charges the battery.

I guess that is good enough.
                  Im now E30less.

The article in roundel is bullshit. He must have driven some stock m50 conversion cars. The mods he was talking about with the m20 is the value of a euro s50, which would stomp the shit out of any m20.

Jason, what do you mean when you say that he neglected to mention the M20 rockers? Are they actually notorious for breaking? One of mine broke the other day.

If you drop in an S52, is the OBD1 conversion ESSENTIAL?
I'm still trying to decide what to do about my current engine.

it's not essential, but it sure is a lot more work to wire an entire e30 to make it OBDII compatible. I'd so go with the conversion, it's worth it

Sorry for the OT, but how are those headers? They're the ebay ones, right? Any "finessing" needed to install them?

Jeremy (permit) and I put some on his car in a parking lot, not too much fun. Took some finessing, but I blame his AC lines mostly for that. He has some vibrations at idle because they seem to be slightly rubbing. They look incredible for the money though, if you did some more "finessing" I don't see you having trouble with fitment.

E30s should have came with M/S50s. Runs a hell of a lot better than my dieing eta ever did.
