    Install cams before...

    Scenario:

    Fresh Shortblock on engine stand
Fresh head with supertech valve springs
S50 Cams/Trays/Lifters sitting on my bench

    Question:

Install cams onto the head, first? Then install the assembled head to the shortblock?

    or

Install head onto shortblock without cams, and then install the cams after?

I'm sure both ways work, BUT, since the motor is out of the car, I'm curious which route you guys would suggest.

    Thanks!

I would install the head on the block first, then install cams...when you install cams, it depresses the valves below deck height so you risk bending them.

I did ARP studs and it would have been more than a bitch to put the nuts on with the cams/trays in the way.
