So will any year ZF-320 bolt right up to an S50?

All the e36 m3 trannys are interchangeable.

my advice to you is that since you already have both of them, trial fit both of them and then decide.
Don't sell anything until the car is running to your satisfaction.

that's good advice. I'm holding onto my old engine until the S50 is done, just to use as a reference.
