    TDC on an engine stand

How can you make sure the bottom end is at tdc if you are assembling the motor on a stand?

Started doing the timing last night but wanted to ask for advice before proceeding.

    thanks!

I have the alignment mark lined up, but I'm thinking its not precise enough for TDC.

the notch in the flywheel for the holding tool still allows some play. i've used the holding tool and just the alignment mark on the timing cover; both worked just fine.

Use a long dowel rod (i used a giant zip tie) and put it in #1 cyl through spark plug hole. Turn till its at the top. Check timing marks.
