I got this new engine and it checks out great. Was not able to do a compression test but I am confident it would pass fine.
- no sludge
- clean oil
- cam lobes look great
- timing chain taunt
The cylinder #1 rod bearing has play. With 5 being full blown rod knock and 1 being high miles, Id rate this rod bearing play at 2.5
That said, all other cylinders check out great and have zero play. I want to replace all six rod bearings.
I was planning on ordering Glyco rod bearing in standard size (is Glyco the goto brand?) and new rod bolts. I want to use plasti-gauge to make sure the clearances are within spec.
Any tips on how to go about this? I am pulling the bearings off this weekend to inspect them for wear, but I am thinking the crankshaft journal is undamaged.
Happy holidays!
