    oh, boy......here goes nothing.....

Well, I backed the car into the garage on Sunday and started turning a perfectly running car into a non-running project. Got the cooling system out, and will hopefully have the motor ready to pull this weekend. Somehow, I've got to get this......

    into this

I'm planning on taking my time to get all the little details right. I'll keep posting updates here and posting my experience on exactly what works and what doesn't.

        Oh God, now I remember.

A hard front impact sometimes breaks the little water outlet on the left rear of the head. It's right against the firewall and usually you have to loosen the motor mounts and a lot of other stuff icluding the radiator to get to it. When I worked in a body shop we went round and round with an insurance company over the 4 hours it took to put it on. But, hey, we don't build them to fix.

sounds like it will be pretty badass. I did the same thing to my car with pulling out a good motor, its not that hard knowing what will be in place of the m20.

Sweet! I'll be starting my own swap in a few days as well. I got a 7/95 production S50, so I'm going to replace the soft valve retainers either this weekend or next.

S52s fortunately have the updated nitrided retainers. With Schricks, Euro HFM, and 24# injectors, your engine is gonna be a BEAST!

It should be a handful, that for sure. Too bad I don't have a set of bottlecaps for it. I love sleepers!
I don't know what injectors I'm going to run yet. There is a great shop here in Sac and the guy that owns it has worked on countless m3s. he has a dyno and can burn custom chips for just about any combination of mods. he said 24# injectors were overkill, so i'm going to have him figure out which ones i should run. We'll see.....

The stock pink top 21.5 lb injectors should be fine, it's just the regular 17 lb injectors that the S50s have won't support high hp.

There's already custom software from Bonneville Motor Works (aka Jim Conforti) that does HFM, 24# inj, Schricks, if you wanna go cheap. But a dyno tune will definitely maximize the power you put down.

did you buy it with the M50 manifold on it ?
that is also not the original fuel rail, is it aftermarket ?

                          edit...
stock injectors with schricks and euro/540 hfm will not work properly.
