s52 w/ revshift mounts fan question

alright, I just finished up swapping from a m50 to a s52. I had the m50 for 6 years, with e28 mounts shimmed. with a 16in spal slim fan. mishimoto rad

This time I bought revshift 24v mounts and went to install my rad with the fan still attached. That wasn't going to happen. Turns out I can no longer fit the spal fan in between the motor and rad.

What are you guys doing about a fan? I plan to run ac so I can't mount a push fan on the front.

I mounted 16" spal pusher in front of stk condenser While maybe not ideal worked fine for me. Same deal M50 ungraded to S52 using AKG mounts
    My CA legal M60 swap

I cut off the stud that holds ther stock clutch fan off the water pump. I was able to fit a spal fan between the engine and mishimoto rad.

Im using condor mounts, but maybe see if trimming the stud will buy you more room.

well, that is whats hitting my fan currently, just a bummer that I'll have to drain and pull the brand new water pump I just installed.

how did you trim the stud>?

I cut it off with a cut off wheel. went slow to not ruin seals in water pump from getting to hot. I didn't pull my water pump when i did mine. I did it on the car. I just removed the rad to give me more room.

              hope this helps

Ive got the AKG mounts, which work so much nicer. The revshifts broke on me twice.

also im running a mech fan from a 524td

do you have any pics? I have e28 green mounts with the 524td fan and aluminum radiator, but it's too close for me... which radiator you're running?

shit. just ordered the revshift greens....

Anyone use the euro slim mech fan? and a pusher? or do you all just go straight to slim electric puller fans?

We have fit the euro diesel fan with stock late model m20 radiator with akg swap mounts. But it was by mm's so we did modify the top attachment bracket slightly to pull the rad a little closer to the rad support. It would not clear the 318 radiator.

we have modified stock m20 fans to clear in the past too but most people do go electric pusher fan if they can.

6cly radiator and mechanical fan is my preference though.

^ I am essentially running this same setup. Using diesel fan with stock radiator on e34 cylinder mounts. I didnt modify the holder although I need to fab something up. The stock holder is plastic and rubber and literally the fan will nearly pull the radiator into it above 3-4k rpms. In fact it has rubbed ever so slightly at the top. I used giant zip ties on side to help give it some stability and it is better but eventually a more solid radiator stay is in the works.

I have green e28 mounts here, too close for my taste, I did modified the stock upper holder to make the radiator closer to the support, also modded the lower rubber mounts and brackets, still can hear the fan touching the radiator at 3-4k rpms too, I read the akg mounts make the engine closer to the firewall, maybe Il buy some, having an 2.75" intercooler, 2.05" aux fan, condenser, 2 row radiator and mech fan makes for a little to no space..

Bringing this back to the top. With the nub cut off it gives me about 2.5" the spal fan alone says its 2.46".

Can I offset the fan a bit so that the thicker part fits better? On eBay they have the shroud and fan kit, that works with my radiator but will not work, it says it's 3.5" which is way to much.
