Automatic m50b25, what are these wires for?

This motor was pulled out of an early automatic e36 with a green 103 DME. Trying to figure out which wires can be eliminated, does anyone know what these wires are for, the ones in the 3 black housings?

    Thanks!

I have the exact same issue. I have a 413 dme, and a vanos obd1 auto harness, but manual trans. Im pretty sure we need to keep a few wires from that bundle for the o2 sensor. The rest I believe are for the auto trans.

Yeah started going through it today, it looks like 2 of those bundles go to the automatic computer, and yeah I was kind of guessing one of those is the o2 sensor wires. Just gotta figure out the colors, I've been using these manuals: http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm

From what I see all the connections are the x20 connector, and the only one that needs to be hooked up from the automatic computer is the brown/black which energizes the starter relay.

Thanks for the link. I wonder if thats a neutral safety switch, or a foot on the brake type of switch.

Neutral safety it disables the starter if you're not in park or drive, you could also bypass the starter relay, either way will work.

You can cut out all of that except the o2 wires. You need to put a plug back onto the o2 wires and use them. Since I happened to pull an auto m50 harness in the boneyard yesterday here is a pic of the wire colors for the o2 sensor plug.

Yep, one is O2 (four wires), the biggest one plugs into the trans, not sure on the third.

PS. I didn't have to do anything about a neutral safety switch.
