Need help or advice with solid mounting shift carrier!!

As the title above says I am in need of some assistant.
I have a 86e with a non vanos M50 swap with the stock Getrag260 connected to it. I have the early model shift carrier and instead of sourcing out a new one just to cut apart I was just thinking of solid mounting a shift carrier to the tunnel. Now my question is mainly related to feel and all around function of a solid shift carrier. I know with the stock carriers its designed to move and flex with the car while driving. I am mainly using the car as a Sunday driver/track car. I have Broadway static coilovers, 6 point caged, and heavy duty tranny, engine mounts. Will the car even move significantly enough anymore now with those upgrades for it to need that flex like a stock carrier provides??? Thanks for any info in advance!

I would not recommend mounting the carrier to the tunnel in a solid mount. Your shifter would be moved around by the deflection of your engine/transmission. This is not a good thing and would likely cause your transmission excessive wear and could pull your car out of gear if the shift rod is moved by the car. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you want the shifter to be independent of the chassis.

I have solid/delrin carrier mounts (to the transmission) on my e39 M5 and hate the noise it causes in the car. Its like it turned my shift boot into a speaker for my engine noise.

That's what I was thinking as well. I see kits they sell and shifter form the solid mount so I was curious. There must be a benefit to this, no?

Solid mounted shifters are supposed to be used in conjunction with solid engine and transmission mounts.

Pro 3 guys do this all the time. Stiffer mounts are definitely a good idea though.
