    M50 no start!

    Hey guys I know this has bee covered a thousand times but my m50 swap (92 525i in an 89 325i) won't start. I used the harness and the DME from the e34. Put a brand new starter in yesterday and now the car cranks but does not want to fire. Fuel lines are correct (I know this because I sprayed fuel everywhere during the test). Car has bavauto coils (haven't heard great things about them) and one is cracked so i ordered new oem coils. I have new injectors on the way too cause why not just go all out and make everything brandy new. Tried swapping the two sensors around but not sure if that was even the problem.

    On another note the MAF that I got from someone on the form does not fit my car so I need an MAF for a 92 525i if anyone has one laying around

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys

    I'm about to do a 92 525i in my 90 325is this week. Maybe we can be twinsies.

    Sorry that didn't help but maybe I can share my results and help troubleshoot in the next few days.

    If you figure it out, post the solution. I'll do the same.

      Are you getting spark?
      Too much fuel?

        Doing coils now. Injectors come in next week and I still have to get a 6 prong MAF. The one I have is 4 prong

        There is fuel to the rail. I even sent fuel by jumping the fuel pump before k tried starting it and I had nothing. So I'm guessing that it is a spark issue.

          Update: Ok so I can start the car on ether through the intake so I know that it is getting spark. I know that the fuel lines are correct and that fuel is running through the rail. I changed the plugs before I tried to start the car and they are completely clean so they are not getting fuel. So my injectors are not firing. The fuel pump will not turn on with the ignition so I jumped the fuse to see if I could start the car. The car that the motor came out of was in an accident and the ecu has some small dents (nothing major) that may be the root of the problem. I am going to get an ecu from a friend and replace the relays before next start attempt. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

            Try a different crank position sensor. Its responsible for timing the firing of the injectors.

              ^ This or maybe the crank & cam sensor connectors are flipped. On non vanos they look exactly the same. Or at least mine were.

              If those are correct and a diff ecu doesn't help, check grounds. Did you ground the tiny wire coming from the coil rail to the front of the head?

                Yes I grounded the small wire from the coil harness and I added an extra ground to that spot to make sure it was a good ground. I have swapped the crank and cam sensors multiple times and the way they are now the car will start if I spray thrust through the intake. I ordered a new crank sensor to see if maybe that is the problem. New relays on the way. And I'm searching for a red 402 DME.
