I'm not getting any answers in the General Tech section, so I thought I'd ask here. Any one with S50 piston ring gap specs for all three rings, I have the three piece oil rings. They are from Hastings and they need to be fit before installation.

Well the Hastings rings are wrong. They have the wrong I.D. and aren't wide enough to fill the ring groove. I really don't want to go with BMW rings, however I did just find them on ECS tunings website for $88 a set. Considering that my brother has already purchased one BMW set (thinking that it was a set for six pistons) plus he bought this Hastings set for $150 and probably can't return it. I might just have to get them for him. This ring bullshtuff has put his motor build on hold for a while now. What is everyone else using to rering stock pistons?sigpic -
Ok I bought Genuine BMW rings from ECS for 88 bucks a set. Could not find a suitable replacement anywhere. Now everyone cam chime in and tell me how foolish I am for buying them and that some other company makes them for 1/2 as much.sigpicComment
