E30 S50 vs. E46 M3 SMG

Here is the video to the SMG M3 i ran , BTW this was a 2nd gear run from 4k rpms ....if there is interest i will get the footage against the E46 M3 6-speed with DINAN : intake,chip,exhaust ,short shift cause i inched away from him.


The backwards hat is inspired from the the movie Over the Top, oh yeah and helps with aerodynamics and down force seeing the e30 has none.

wow !! thats one fast e30, wonder if i will be able to smoke e46s like that with a m52 with bolt ons.

Not dynoed as of yet , i am running S52 injectors without tuning so i am running a little rich ..... so thats a mod i guess and i have a huge dinan filter with a heatshield in engine bay i have stock obd1 center section which sux and i have no muffler. Also i am running a 2.93 open diff with a ZF 325 tranny i am not sure if i want to change anything but i think a 3.15 LSD would help a little.

We shut down at about 120 mph so that was a 40-120mph roll

wow, I'm impressed...I don't think my car is that fast and I have put a lot into it. Maybe my motor is tired...oh well, time for NA 300hp rebuild :)

Seriously though, are there any pics of your intake setup posted anywhere? I have a similar exhaust as yours, but I'm running a muffler. How does your car sound without a muffler? I bet your revs are super low with that 2.93 diff. I'm running a 3.46 and it's great, but I'm leaning toward a 3.25 change before the winter. We'll see...

Btw my friend with SMG did all the editing on the film and it was shot with his $1500 High Def Video Cam his name is BEN on Baybimmers.com and FloridaGerman.com ...........He wanted me to link all credits to him for the movie i guess.

Anyway the car pulls strong but plenty more room for improvements in power and gearing , she is now my daily driver ....suspension and rims are coming as soon as the cash flow does.

If I saw this video before knowing what that E30 had in it, I'd say it was an cammed S52 with associated hard/software running a E36trans/3.46 gear or a 260/4.10. You pulled him nasty with a 2.93! I've driven a 2.93 E30/S50 and they feel slow compared to the 3.25 or 3.46! A 2.93 takes forever to climb the tach, it seemd to me about as fast as an E36 M3 when I drove the E30S50 2.93.

Was the M3 a 'vert? Why can't I hear the M3? Was he at 100% throttle 100% of the time? I notice that he completely stopped your pull on the high side. Did you guys punch at the same time?

My car (E30-S50, 226/230 on a Dynodynamics) won't do what your's did to an E46 M3. We're about even from a punch with a slight high side pull to the E46. I've got the 260/3.73 and about 2800 lbs.

Impressed, but scratching my head...You must have one hell of a motor...

Well i had a 4.10 before and i could do 60-70 in the blink of an eye and i didnt even have my coding plug which means i was only shifting at like 5500 rpms. When i swapped to the 2.93 i figured i would be balls slow but i obviously have enough power to drag through those long gears with authority. I am so happy with setup now that i am scared to change diffs.



Yeah well i raced a 6-speed as well and it had Dinan CAI,chip,Exhaust, SSk and i pulled about a half car length on him i have it on video ....shit i even wave to the camera through 3rd gear but the kid who has the footage seems to never have time to get it up online. I should get footage of my cluster when i drive. Also my car is very loud i have no muffler so will rarely hear any car i race. That race was a 2nd gear roll at 40mph i shut down at 120-130 where i feel unsafe with 6.5" tires that are lightly balding

???? that movie just didnt look right? not sure maybe my s52 with a 4.10 could of done it. but that tops out at 120 right now untill i switch the diff. My smg m3 is pretty fast and has a damn hard pull till 160+
