Supposedly, this manifold is designed specifically for M/S50 E30s- meaning top mount.

I'm going S/C'ed anyways, as I'd like to keep this car as a daily driver, at least in the non-winter months. VF engineering is working on a kit for us...

There is a guy on the F/I board on bimmerforums who just finished installing a VF Engineering kit on his S50'ed E30. He said that he had to make a few changes to the intake piping, and that he was working with the guys at VF to develop a kit specifically for e30s.

I emailed VF a few weeks back and they said they'd sell me the e36 325i kit but I'd be on my own for making it fit.

There's the thread, heres an email from the guy:
                    Hey brew,

yes there were many custom mods that needed to be done.1st- the intake
                    pipe
had to be off a z series S/C kit and then modified to fit around
                    everything,
also the discharge pipe had to be customized to accept the bypass valve
hoses and the crankcase vent valve. Also the power steering reservoir
                    and
charcoal canister had to be re-located. Ahhhh let see, what else.....
                    oh
yeah the radiator top mount had to be removed and a new one made to
                    pull it
away from the engine for more clearance. and the upper rad hose had to
                    be
bent from steel tubing to go around the pulley of the supercharger.
And.......the Software had to be customized ( still waiting for it to
arrive) to allow for the EWSII security to be removed.
Thats all I can remember now.

VFE, Performance BMW magazine, and I are going to be working on a kit
stictly for the e30's with the s50swap. A direct bolt on kit! so look
                    for
                    it in the near future.

I assume your expressed interest is because you have the s50 swap done
                    too.

Let me tell you, even with the wrong software that im running now which
limits me to only about 60% of the peak power that i should be getting
                    it is
                    f-ing fast. i can easily outrun C5 and C6 vets. e46m3's etc,etc. for
                    real.

Oh yeah the puller fan had to be removed and a new high power electric
                    fan
had to be custom fitted in front of the rad to work as the primary fan.

                    thanks,
                    mat

for all the cost and hastle of sc kit you could go turbo and have more power... you can also upgrade a turbo setup easier than a sc setup... and if you ever wanted not to run boost you can basically turn a turbo off... nto a sc

True, but since this car is my daily driver I'd rather not deal with piecing together a turbo setup. A S/C setup is bolt-on, and the vortech kits can make upwards of 430whp w/ cams and pulley upgrades, which ought to satisfy me for quite some time. The twinscrews look awesome, too, just not sure if I want to put that kind of money into it.
