This is my last wiring question...really

So after blowing up my first ECU I now know that the wiring diagrams online are not that helpfully, I should have listen to everyone before I dropped 200 bucks on this ecu. I've tracked down a wiring diagram for a 91 318is, I haven't found one for a non-vanos m50 yet. By the way if you have one that you'll email me I'll pay you, or if you just know the pinout for a 318is and a m50 non vanos that would be awesome to. Anyways I can't figure out the red/white wire, there is a red white coming out of each relay, and one going into the ecu on the 318is. What do I connect this to? I posted the pin out that I have put togethor. Once the car runs I'll post up the working one so well have another one of those deceiving charts around.
    Thanks again
    Stu

I don't know where you got that wiring from but it's WRONG
Here is the correct wiring of the 318is c101 plug

Why do you have two color colums on your chart? Is one going in to the plug and the other going out of it?

almost all e30's change some wire colors at the c101 connector. (same with the e36 at the x20 connector.) its just that most people dont look at the chassis side of the connector. cheers, jason

I cut the connector off of my m50 harness and was going to wiring the e30 c101 connector directly on. I thought that would be a lot cleaner. I didn't know that they changed color. Fuck, my wiring isn't even close.

ya one side is the chassis side and the other is the engine side.

Well I rewired everything, but I'm still not getting any power at pin 6 on the ecu. Could this be a relay problem, does the main relay have to click on to power the ecu? The 92 m50s do get power at pin 6 right?
                    thanks

nope the m50 should get power as follows
                      Pin 26=Constant 12V(from battery)
                      Pin 54=switched 12V(from ECM relay)
                      Pin 56=Switched 12V(From Ign. switch)
                      Pin 6=Ground
                      Pin 15=Ground

Ignore wire colour charts, I made the mistake myself.
                        Only work off Pin No's.

There are some good diagrams here

Click on BMW, then the third option down, then Mitchell On-Demand, then choose model from the drop down box

ya go by Pin # and functions, sometimes the color matches sometimes they don't

Thanks, I'm not getting power at ether of these
                            Pin 54=switched 12V(from ECM relay)
                            Pin 56=Switched 12V(From Ign. switch)

The signal is going into the ecu here right so I should have 12v with out it pluged in. Where is the ecm relay, is this the main relay? Thanks again for all your help.

The c101 has to be plugged in to get the power. The ECM relay is the main relay, just a different name.
and power from the other should come from the ignition switch threw the large green wire(pin 7 on the c101). I'd check this first as a bad ignition switch would cuase power not to get to the main relay also.
