    Brake booster gone out?

The other day I slammed hard on my brakes and almost immediately afterwards my car began to idle really rough. When I disconnect the booster hose from the manifold and plug up the hole it idles perfectly. I also get a faint air leak sound coming from beneath the dash by the brake pedal. Any ideas 24 valve guys who are running the modified Porsche 944 booster??

If you are getting vaccum leak from the booster line, and it is connected correctly to the booster & intake mani, then yes, you can assume bad booster. Although you should be able to notice loss in braking power or some kind of change in braking.
I'm also running a modified 944 booster, and I'd like to chime in and say, while it was much much easier to just swap that in, rather than drill the firewall, I went with 944 over e21 due to braking feel. Threads I had read said 944 offered better breaking assist in comparison to e21, but I get very little braking assist in my car w/ 944 booster. That being said, I suspect that the check valve on the booster vaccum line might restrict vaccum flow to much, and reduce braking power. Sorry to thread jack, and back to your question- probably the booster if you can hear a leak somewhere by your feet and there's a vaccum leak happening in or after the booster vaccum line

    Cheers

I get reasonable braking power still. Frankly I haven't noticed a difference. Luckily the 944 booster is a fairly common part. Thank you!
