    Newbie(oil pan question)

Im new here, im usually on bimmerforums.com. Try not to flame me too hard if its a dumb question that has been asked. Ive been doing constant researching on bimmerforums and posting this question here will hopefully provide me with a quick answer.

I have a major question that I have asked many times on bimmerforums without an answer. I have an e36, 92 318i and im doing an m50 swap. I acquired an m50 from a 91? 525. I know its nonvanos. well im having problems dropping the engine in since the oil pan is different. You guys seem to be doing the exact opposites. You guys are going from an e36 oil pan to a e34 oil pan. Ive taken my oil pan off and looked at the oil sump and chain gear attached. How would i move it to the back as the e36 oil pan has it bulge in the rear as opposed to the e34 bulge in the front. thanks in advance.

you need to buy an e36 oil pump pickup. They aren't that expensive, even brand new.
Also, you will need the e36 dipstick tube

Ohh, and you will need the e36 motor mount arms

You can get any part from BMA Parts. Call or email Patrick. He's the man.

The installation is pretty simple. You don't have to replace the entire oil pump, just the pickup tube. Just unbolt it, and put on the new one.

Also, you will have to change your oil deflector/windage tray thing (PN # 11131403769). The e34 has that piece attached to the oilpan, but the e36 has it bolted to the engine. You will need to get that.

Also, there is a little bracket (PN # 11411735260) that is used as support for the oil pump pickup tube

Haha very convenient since you took them off when you put your motor in.

I have all the parts as well, including an S50 oil pan. Make me an offer.

Oh you will also need a different dip stick tube (which I have as well).
