Hey guys, have been lurking on the form forum for a long while, did my m50 swap in my 85 318 last summer, has been running great since. About 2 or 3 weeks ago seemed like my mileage took a dump and had a strong smell of exhaust at stop lights (more so un burned gas) this past weekend I took it out for a drive as I picked up a 2014 passat to daily so only drive the 30 on the weekends. Ran great all weekend, ran down the street Sunday evening and on my way back home pulling out of a parking lot I got on it, went for about 3 seconds and then everything died and started back up again and ever since then I have had a terrible misfire under load. Idles fine, revs fine while parked, drives ok if I am just slowly accelerating from a stop but the minute the car is under any load it feels like its running on 2 cylinders. I have a spare set of coils so I swapped those on, changed the plugs, unplugged MAF and o2 sensor, and no changes at all. Engine is obd1 non vanos. Compression test and fuel pressure test will be done this weekend to see if I may have a bad fuel pump. Any other ideas to check?
