    24v cooling issues, possible thermostat???

I got my car up and running after two years, After starting to drive it started to creep towards red. After I came back it was still at red, My m42 overfill tank has coolant to the top and highly pressurized, but oddly enough the coolant was cool to the touch and the hoses we're hot as shit and seemed empty of fluid.

I'm thinking the thermostat is stuck closed but it just seems weird that both the thermostat and water pump are new. probably a few thousand miles on them...

    what do you guys think?

Possible air lock in the system. Are you getting hot air in the cabin? Try bleeding the system some more

I would suspect the gauge. Mine did the same thing randomly a few times and I installed an aftermarket gauge that showed normal temps.

Good call on the heat. Is your heater blowing hot air? Mine was airlocked or whatever you call it, when I first got it going after the swap. No heat and it would creep steadily past the halfway mark.

Following a bunch of threads I took the top radiator hose off and filled the engine up that way, as opposed to filling it up via the overflow; and it worked like a charm. Not sure how or if that works with the M42 radiator.
Thank god, R3V was getting boring since the ginger kid wrecked his car. - Stonea

Before I did my swap, I had overheating problems. As soon as I would idle anywhere for an extended period of time, my temps would rise. After I did my swap, I had the same issue, I always had thought that I just couldn't get an air bubble out or something, but I ended up popping a hole in my radiator when I installed my skidplate so I replaced it with a new Nissen unit, and now my temps stay right below the half mark, approx. 190-195 on my aftermarket gauge.

So.. my original radiator had to have been clogged or something is my assumption. lol

replace your tstat right away, a flush would be great as well.
            then bleed that sucker.
heat on full blast while doing so. good luck

I had to drill a small hole in the top of my T-stat because my swap was doing funky things... the temp would randomly climb up and down.. I couldnt get it bled out. I tried lifting the front of the car up really high, removing the bleed hose that goes back to the rad tank.. none of it worked. I have a late model body with the newer style cooling system, there is no bleed screw.. (i think the m42 rads have one on the exp tank?)

anyway the bleed hole in the t stat is a good idea anyway
