    e30 Getrag 260 with e36 M3 clutch/flywheel

    Does it work?

I have about $700 in a brand new e36 M3 (240mm) clutch kit and JB aluminum flywheel. Obviously I am going to use it, the question is can I use a 260 with this combo or do I need to keep looking for an e36 Getrag? What slave cylinder and lever and such should I use with the 30 trans?

    Thanks.

How about a ZF M3 tranny? PM if you want to work out a deal for mine.

I actually got offered one locally for a great price, but I'd rather not spend the bucks on the driveshaft so on, and even at the great price its $150 more than a Getrag on the street.

yes it will work, use your e30 slave cylinder.

I am running M50 with my getrag 260, and e36 M3 clutch and flywheel.

havent been able to drive it sine am having starter troubles though. :(

There is no clearance problem with the e36 starter?

Good news, thanks for checking in.

Oh, and my e30 is an auto... so I'll be using AN e30 slave cylinder. :p

That's why I got the clutch... who knows whats in the future for this beast? And it was no more expensive than buying a new dual-mass e36 325i flywheel and clutch, and should make a nice difference.

Thanks. You'll get it. It's something small and stupid that you overlooked, I'm sure.

                      325i what?

Obviously an e30 325i clutch and flywheel will work, as e30 325is had getrag 260s. I would think that an e36 setup would work with the 260 also, as it's the same size, but you would have to use the e36 starter.

The starter has to match the flywheel. The pressure plate has to match the flywheel and the clutch disk has to match the transmission input shaft. Other than that, there's a lot of mixing and matching possible.
