Is this normal?!? Ring leaking air...

Doing my s52 swap. Just dropped the pan to replace the oil pump, secure the nut, pan...etc. while there I removed the baffle and look into the cylinder from the bottom end and rotated the engine. I definitely hear air coming out of the cylinder between piston and cylinder. It's leaking by the rings... the engine has been sitting for 2 years... hard to do a compression test with engine out... video will come tomorrow.

    Is it normal?

That might be just compression building. I would say do a leak down but the tolerances are not the same on a cold motor.

Yeah its for sure compression that is building up pressure, but it's leaking thru the rings

The problem is that I can't really do a leak down test with a cold engine that hasn't been running for two years. Results would not be valuable... correct me me if i'm wrong

Thats exactly what I'm saying... doing a leak down on a cold motor is going to produce inconsistent results.

do you think it would produce at least a hint?
