Early model shifter carrier (plate) with ZF?

Quick question, couldn't find an answer, Im swapping a S52 with ZF trans into an early model e30 (1985 325e). This has the plate type shifter carrier.

Can I use this stock shifter carrier with the zf trans? Anyone done this?

    Thanks!

It's annoying and doesn't work well without decent modification

ah ok. I also just found out today, you can order a brand new zf shifter carrier from FCP for 20 bucks soo. ill probably just do that if I cant find one even cheaper.

but I like new and shiny

I bolted my shift carrier directly to the trans tunnel, similar to the way AKG shifters are mounted. Though if you do this, you'll need solid or poly motor and trans mounts

I did this also without the stiffer mounts. Moves around a lot and pops out of 2nd occasionally. Not good. I'm swapping in the e36 carrier ASAP.

+1 same here. All poly bushings and mounts. Feels awesome.
