    tach just died

    Hey guys,

I just picked up a s52 and everything was working till today. I had noticed while driving the tach jumped from zero to working then kept working but today it's done. I checked this wire under the glovebox and tested voltage which seemed to change from 12v and down. Is that correct?

It was the white/black wire in the pic below.

Everything else works in the dash. I looked at fuses and they seem fine but they appear original. I read something about SI batteries and also just whacking it.

    Any thoughts?

    thanks

well whacking it worked. i'm sure it will eventually stop working from excessive whacking though.

Not sure if it's any help. I had a speedo go out on me before and after throwing parts at it and nothing every changing, I read somewhere about re-flowing the solder joints on the cluster board can help. Worked for me.

hey thanks for the tip. i had seen a blog about needing to use oem screws otherwise it would damage the board. the ones i see on the car don't look oem.
