I don't have a problem mounting the cruise actuator, I didn't even move it during the swap (90 325i).
My problem is getting the cable to work, there has to be a better way than ghetto vacuum hose and collars. Do we know which cable will work nicely to set up cruise on my s50 e30?
The stock e30 cable doesn't slip into the rubber grommet at the bracket on the TB, and it's too long, if I modify it, I would worry about the cable catching, and sticking the throttle open. The cruise cable just sits idle while the main cable is pulled during normal driving.

Can the e36 cable be made to work?
    Thanks
    -Dan

I put my cruise unit down on the fender and under my cold air box.

I cut the hard end of the wire down and tapped it and threaded the old plastic adjuster thing back on.

    excuse the dirtyness!

I think I get what you are saying - the slack is taking all the travel that should be where your throttle would be in travel if there was no slack. Is that right?

    How much slack is there?

I don't have my car in front of me either, but next trip to the warehouse I'll look at the cruise module & see if you can open it up, loosen some clamp on the cable & suck in the travel. If so I think I'd like to shorten my cable for routing. Mine doesn't run yet, so IDK.

i cant see how running it in a different way will take up the slack. its like a bike brake line. i guess ill just try putting an RC collet on it and seeing it it works

I was running into a similar problem with mine. I routed the cable differently. I don't have the car here with me but I either ran it behind the booster and looped it back down to the throttle body or I routed it just behind the resevoir. Either way it took up all the slack and my cruise works great.

Mine is mounted in the stock location. there is alot of slack in the cable so i think it doesnt work because of it. should i just cut it so its a snug fit to the throttle or does it need some slack? im not sure how the cruise modual works.

    Thanks, Jason!

Funny you ask - just asked my boss for days off! I'll do 2 of the 3 BHF events with Badger Bimmers. I also want to do a couple of the PCA events too, including the May 5th and 6th at Road America.

The rallye in April should be fun too.

if cruise didnt cancel when the clutch is pressed for the 3-4 shift.....(j/k):D

    i

did that on another one of my cars too. but the threaded adjuster stuck out too far and ran the potential of binding up on something at full throttle.

ya that's about the same method I used when putting cruise on a buddies 87 with an s50. But used some vacuum hose adapters cut down in between the threaded adjuster.
